Mixed graph colouring as scheduling multi-processor tasks with equal processing times

چکیده
A problem of scheduling partially ordered unit-time tasks processed on dedicated machines is formulated as a mixed graph colouring problem, i. e., an assignment integers (colours) {1, 2, …, t} to the vertices (tasks) V {ν1, ν2, νn}, G = (V, A, E) such that if vp and vq are joined by edge [νp, νq] ∈ E their colours have be different. Further, two νp νq arc (νi, νj) colour vertex νi has no greater than νj. We prove optimal equivalent GcMPT|pi 1|Cmax finding schedule for multi-processor with unit (equal) processing times. Contrary classical shop-scheduling problems, several required process individual task in 1|Cmax. Moreover, along precedence constraints given set it subset must simultaneously. Due theorems proved this article, most analytical results been problems GcMPT |pi so far, analogous colourings graphs E), vice versa.

Variants of Multi-resource Scheduling Problems with Equal Processing Times
We tackle the problem of non-preemptive scheduling of a set of tasks of duration p over m machines with given release and deadline times. We present a polynomial time algorithm as a generalization to this problem, when the number of machines fluctuates over time. Further, we consider different objective functions for this problem. We show that if an arbitrary function cost ci(t) is associated t...
متن کاملScheduling Jobs with Equal Processing Times
Whereas the overwhelming majority of scheduling problems appears to be NP-hard, models with equal processing time jobs form a remarkable case which is still open for most problems but it intuitively looks polynomially solvable. The basic scheduling problem we are dealing with is the following. There are n jobs, each requiring an identical execution time p. There are associated a release time rj...
متن کاملOn a parallel machine scheduling problem with equal processing times
In this paper, we give a polynomial algorithm for problem P | r j , p j = p | f j (C j), where f j is any non-decreasing function such that for any indices i and j, function f i − f j is monotonous, and a polynomial algorithm for problem P | r j , p j = p, D j | max ϕ j (C j), where ϕ j is any non-decreasing function for any j.
متن کاملA Fast Algorithm for Multi-Machine Scheduling Problems with Jobs of Equal Processing Times
Consider the problem of scheduling a set of tasks of length p without preemption on m identical machines with given release and deadline times. We present a new algorithm for computing the schedule with minimal completion times and makespan. The algorithm has time complexity O(min(1, p m )n 2) which improves substantially over the best known algorithm with complexity O(mn2). 1998 ACM Subject Cl...

In this paper we consider the problem of scheduling jobs with equal processing times on a single batch processing machine so as to minimize a primary and a secondary criteria. We provide optimal polynomial algorithms for various combinations of the primary and secondary criteria. This is the Pre-Published Version.
